Lichtblicke - Together against human trafficking and violence

Brief description
The project is committed to protecting asylum seekers and refugees in shelters who are at risk of or affected by human trafficking and gender-based violence. It offers both structural and direct support to improve the early identification and referral of those affected to support services. To this end, a scientifically based training concept is being introduced to qualify all employees in the shelters, especially those from outside the field.
In addition, peer-to-peer awareness-raising activities will be carried out to help those affected to communicate their situation, recognize their rights and seek support. In addition, individual trauma-sensitive psychosocial counseling and support is offered to those affected by specialist counseling centers. The project aims to improve the identification and support of victims of human trafficking and gender-based violence and to establish sustainable structures in shelters.
The “Lichtblicke” project takes a holistic approach to improving the protection of vulnerable asylum seekers and refugees in refugee accommodation:
- Early identification and support through the development, implementation and piloting of a model system in various shelters
- Peer-to-peer awareness-raising activities in eight shelters led by former trafficked persons to inform asylum seekers and refugees
- Comprehensive, individual and needs-based support for potential victims of human trafficking and gender-based violence through specialized counseling centers
- Creation and dissemination of a handbook with the developed model system as open source as well as presentation at state forums and an online symposium to promote the application of the approaches.
