Admission Professionally qualified applicants

From 01.01.2025, until the new admission and enrolment regulations (ZulImO) take effect, the following procedure will apply for professionally qualified individuals under the Baden-Württemberg State Higher Education Act (LHG):

According to §§ 58 Para. 2 No. 5 and 6 LHG BW:

  1. Those with recognized advanced vocational training (e.g., master craftsman or business administrator) will receive direct university admission after a counselling interview (Section 58 Para. 2 No. 5).
  2. Those with at least two years of relevant vocational training and three years of experience must pass an aptitude test for subject-specific admission (Section 58 Para. 2 No. 6).

Until the new ordinance on the entrance exam and trial study programme is issued, the aptitude test will be conducted as currently specified.

Artistic portfolio

Your portfolio and CV should provide an insight into your individual creative and technical development. We deliberately avoid thematic specifications. Please include a written explanation of the work and your approach. Still have questions about what to include in the portfolio? When studying in German:

If your native language is not German, you should also submit a German language certificate.

Here you can find the language tests and the levels you should have:

  • DSH exam (level 2)
  • TestDaF (TDN 4 in all subtests. If you receive a grade of 3 in one part of the exam, this can be compensated for if you receive a grade of 5 in another part of the exam and have achieved a total of at least 16 points)
  • the Goethe-Zertifikat C1 or C2 or Telc C1 or C2 (minimum grade good/2)
  • the language diploma (level II) of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK), also known as DSD II
  • the assessment test of a Studienkolleg, German examination section
  • telc C1 University

We do not have any application deadlines. This is what your application process looks like:

  • If you are interested in the Bachelor's degree programme in Communication Design, you can send us your application easily and convenientlyonlineonline.
  • If you have any technical difficulties with the online application or if you have any questions about your application, your contact person will be happy to help you.
  • If you fulfil the admission requirements, we will invite you to a selection process.
  • If you are successful in the selection process, you will receive an acceptance letter and a study contract from us.
  • You sign the study contract and send it back to us.
  • You pay the enrolment fee.
  • If you come from a non-EU country, you will pay your tuition fee one semester in advance in addition to the registration fee. From the second semester onwards, payments for the remaining semesters are due six weeks before the end of the study period you have already paid for.
  • We will send you your letter of admission.
  • You take part in our Startklar days - and off you go with your studies!
